I love the new Jack Reacher book

This afternoon I finished ‘Chain Reaction’, book #31 of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series that was released yesterday, and I have to say it really hit the mark – particularly in this day and age.

Screnshot of an email from Kobo announcing the release of the new Jack Reacher book titled Chain Reaction

I’m not going to share any spoilers (obviously) but the book is all competence porn – very much what we need to see in 2026 when incompetent, self-interested assholes are running so much of the world – and, well, let’s just say that AI data centres are central to the plot :)

So that was a whole lot of fun to read.

But what came after the book was equally exciting.

Screenshot of a post-book page from the Kobo app that reads, "The Reacher universe just got bigger. Don't miss the first-even Neagley thriller from Lee Child and Yasmin Angoe". The screenshot shows the cover of a book titled Zero Margin.

Yes, you read that right: the first Neagley book is on its way! (Which I have promptly pre-ordered, of course.)

Frances Neagley has always been one my favourite characters from the Reacher books and Maria Sten does a fantastic job playing her in Neagley, the Reacher spin-off TV series on Amazon Prime Video.

Since the spin-off TV series was a success and a second season has already been green lit, I was really, really hoping this meant they’d do a spin-off book series too. I am thrilled to see that this is actually going to happen.

Oh, and it’s not just that: I now have a new author to explore! I hadn’t come across Yasmin Angoe before but you can be sure I’ll read all her books before ‘Zero Margin’ comes out on 23 March 2027!

Much happiness all around.
