Agreeing with Angela Collier on how bad Star Trek: Picard is

Today I finished watching Dr Angela Collier’s 3 hour, 48 minute long video essay titled ‘How Star Trek: Picard Ruins Star Trek’ and I want to state for the record that I agree with it 100%.

I don’t usually write posts about how much I dislike a piece of media. But as a long-time Star Trek fan, a couple of years ago I was compelled to write about how season 2 of Star Trek: Picard (ST:P) was ruined in editing.

Angela’s media analysis takes things up several notches and explains how not only each season of ST:P is bad, but how damaging many of the currently-airing Trek television shows are to the philosophy and the joy of watching Star Trek.

If you’re a Trekkie like me and you enjoy long-form video essays, I highly recommend you watch this.

My Review of Star Trek Into Darkness

I watched Star Trek Into Darkness  a few weeks ago but haven't had the time or brain to  write a proper review.

When people have asked me for my opinion of the film - knowing I'm a trekkie - I've responded with this sentence that nicely sums up what I've been wanting to write in that review: 

It's a decent Hollywood action movie, but not a particularly good Star Trek movie. 

But that's about all I've been able to say.

Then today it occurred to me: Why write a text-based review when you could put the whole thing in a mind map, instead? 

So here is my mind map review of Star Trek Into Darkness. Enjoy :)

TV Shows in the Early 80s

Growing up in the early 80s there were only three TV shows I was allowed to stay up late to watch:

• Star Trek: The Next Generation
• Cosmos: A Personal Voyage
• One of Jacques Cousteau’s documentary series – though I don’t remember which one it was; and it might even have been two series back-to-back (e.g. his Odyssey and Amazon series)

That is all.
