| Corduroy
In 2003, while living in Islamabad, I joined an English music playing rock band called Corduroy as its drummer. I left the band in late 2004 and the band itself has since gone into hibernation as its members have moved on to other things like further studies, jobs, and, in our vocalist's case, a solo music careeer. However, not only was the time I spent with Corduroy some of the most enjoyable of my life, we made good music and we did quite a bit for the underground music scene in Islamabad.
In fact, thanks to Arshad Bhatti, our seven month long, regular Saturday night gig at his cafe, Civil Junction (where we also managed weekend musical activities), acted like a lightning rod, bringing together musicians from around the city -- and indeed the country -- to a place where we could all play together and perform publicly in front of an audience.
Archived Website and Album MP3s Online
For both those reasons (i.e. my fond memories and importance of Corduroy to the underground music scene in Islamabad) I've kept an archived copy of the website that I made for the band. More recently, though, I've uploaded the band's entire first album, The Morning After, to the Internet and have made it available for download. You can also find links to each of those songs from within the archived website.
We recorded, produced, and sold the album all by ourselves and under our own record label (Noise Gate Productions) so the album's production quality isn't quite the best in the world. However, if you're an audiophile, you will be able to tell that there is variation in the quality of the songs within the album. That happened because we got better at recording and producing over the time that it took us to record The Morning After.
If you have any comments or questions about the site, the band, or the album, e-mail me at ameel [at] insanityworks.org.
