Why "Insanity Works"?
Because insanity does work...well, some of the time anyway. Actually, "insanity works" is explanatory phrase that Nadia once wrote in an e-mail to Ameel. The two of us liked the phrase a lot and picked it from a long list of other off-beat, yet appropriate potential names that we came up with when naming this site.
Site Versions
This is the third version our website. We built the first version soon after we got married in 2004 and the second version in 2008-09. We're building this third version in 2012. It appears we upgrade our site every four years.
Version 1
We built the first version of this site as a place to share our wedding photos and start documenting our life together.
It was built using Dreamweaver and Paint Shop Pro and this is what its splash page used to look like:
Version 2
The second version of this site was a straightforward upgrade to the first one. It had a better design and more content. Later, it became the place where we hosted our blogs.
That was also built using Dreamweaver and Paint Shop Pro (both newer versions) and this is what its splash page used to look like:
The blogs ran on WordPress, by the way.
Version 3
The web has changed a lot in four years - with services like Twitter, Flickr, YouTube, and PicasaWeb giving you the ability to store and share content online easily and for free. So, instead of trying to be the single place in which we store and publish all our online stuff, this website contains just our blogs and static textual content. The rest of our online lives - mainly the multimedia bits - is spread across a whole bunch of other online services.
This site is built using Squarespace, with image editing support from Picasa and Paint.NET.
